Why we travel by rail

In China, the bullet train beats flying — almost every time

China has over 40,000 km of high-speed rail linking nearly every city travelers care about. After years of guiding trips, this is what we keep coming back to.

City center to city center

Beijing South, Shanghai Hongqiao, Xi'an North — high-speed stations sit inside the city, with metro lines to your hotel. Skip the airport runaround and save more than two hours.

Usually faster than flying

Beijing to Shanghai is 4.5 hours. Beijing to Xi'an is 4.5 hours. Once you add check-in, security, boarding and baggage, that "two-hour flight" is really six hours door-to-door.

Frequent and on-time

Major routes run every 15–30 minutes with 98%+ on-time performance. Miss one train and there's another shortly — unlike flights, where one delay can wreck a whole day.

The landscape is part of the trip

Watch the North China Plain give way to loess hills from Beijing to Xi'an, or rice paddies and karst peaks roll past between Shanghai and Guilin. A view you simply don't get from a plane.

How it works

Three steps from inquiry to departure

1

Tell us what you're after

Pick a tour above or send us a custom request — rough dates, group size, cities you want, experiences that matter. You don't need a complete plan; we'll help you shape it.

2

Get a draft within 24 hours

A real advisor in China sends back a day-by-day draft with train numbers, hotels and pricing. Three to five rounds of revisions is normal — only pay a deposit once you're happy.

3

Travel with someone on the line

Station pickups, English-speaking guides and hotels are all set. Train delayed, want to swap a day, need a recommendation — call our 24-hour team in China and someone actually picks up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before you book, the things travelers ask us

Don't see your question? Ask us directly — our team in China replies within 24 hours.

Why does every itinerary use bullet trains?
China's high-speed rail network now links nearly every major tourist city. Beijing–Xi'an is 4.5 hours, Beijing–Shanghai is 4.5 hours, Shanghai–Guilin is 9 hours direct. Trains are cheaper than domestic flights, run city center to city center, and skip the two-hour airport routine. We schedule each tour around real timetables and suggest specific train numbers, so you arrive with time to actually see things — not rush to the next flight.
What is included in the price?
Each tour page has a "What's Included" section with full details. Generally we include: second-class bullet train tickets between cities, 4-star hotels (or whatever tier you choose), English-speaking guide for sightseeing days, all entrance fees in the itinerary, daily lunch, and airport/station transfers. Not included: international flights, visa fees, dinners (so you can explore street food on your own), personal expenses, tips.
Can I customize the itinerary?
Yes, and customization is free. Click "Plan My China Trip", tell us your budget, group size, cities you want, and what kind of experience you're after. We reply within 24 hours with a draft. Most travelers go through 3–5 rounds of revisions before locking in. Our local advisors are more flexible than a packaged tour and far less stressful than booking everything yourself.
Which cities should a first-timer visit?
For 7–10 days, the classic combination is Beijing + Xi'an + Shanghai. Three completely different personalities: Beijing for imperial history, Xi'an for the Terracotta Warriors and Muslim Quarter, Shanghai for the modern skyline. Add Guilin if you want one nature stop. If you only have 5 days, Beijing + Xi'an is enough.
Do I need a Chinese visa?
Many nationalities now qualify for 240-hour (10-day) transit visa-free entry, as long as you transit through a third country and continue onward to a third country — which covers most independent trips. The exact rules depend on your passport. We confirm the best option in our reply email. If you need a regular L tourist visa, we can provide an invitation letter and hotel bookings to support the application.
What if something goes wrong during the trip?
Every traveler gets a 24-hour emergency line answered by our team in China, in English or Chinese. Train delayed, hotel issue, want to swap a day on the fly — our local team handles it directly. That's the main difference from booking train tickets on a foreign reseller: when something breaks, someone actually picks up the phone.
