The Xian–Chengdu line is one of the busiest rail corridors connecting these two cities. With 81+ trains running daily, you'll rarely have trouble finding a seat — though booking a day or two ahead is still a good idea during holidays.

Which Train Should You Take?

Most travelers pick a G-train (high-speed, up to 350 km/h). They're comfortable, punctual, and the stations are modern. If you're on a budget, D-trains are slightly slower but cheaper. For overnight journeys, Z-trains have sleeper berths — you save a hotel night.

Seat Classes

High-speed trains offer second class (5 seats per row, perfectly fine for most journeys), first class (4 seats per row, more legroom), and business class (fully reclining, premium price). For this route, second class is what most people book — it's clean, quiet, and has power outlets. Prices start from $35.
